Candeleda is a town and a Spanish municipality located in the Tiétar valley, south of the province of Ávila, autonomous community of Castilla y León. With a population of 5143 inhabitants, it is the fifth municipality in the province by population after Ávila, Arévalo, Arenas de San Pedro and Las Navas del Marqués. It is also, with 213,91 km², the second municipality of the province by extension, after the capital Candeleda is located on the southern slope of the Sierra de Gredos, at 432 meters above sea level, so it has a microclimate with a Mediterranean thermal range of mild winters and hot summers, with average summer temperatures of 26°C.
The municipality has the population centers of Candeleda and El Raso, the second a hamlet. Judicially belongs to the party of Arenas de San Pedro, number 2 of the province, whose head is the homonymous neighboring town. Of medieval origin, the town received the title of villa of Enrique III in the year 1393. Candeleda is related, in its economy and its culture, with the Tiétar valley, in Castilla y León. With the region of La Vera, in Extremadura. As well as with the Campana de Oropesa and the city of Talavera de la Reina, in Castilla-La Mancha.
