General Obligado Department
General Obligado is a department in the province of Santa Fe, Argentina. Emerged in 1890, from the division of the old department of San Javier, together with the annexation of part of the National Territory of the Chaco, it was originally called Reconquista. In 1907, during the government of Pedro Antonio Echagüe, the name was changed to General Obligado, in memory of whoever was the pioneer in the conquest of these territories.
