José de la Cruz Porfirio Díaz Mori, known as Porfirio Díaz, was a Mexican soldier who served as president of Mexico seven times. In total he held the presidency of Mexico for 30 years, an unprecedented extension. And whose lapse, in the history of Mexico, is called as Porfiriato. He occupied for the first time the presidency of the country in an interim form after the triumph of the Revolution of Tuxtepec, between November 28,1876 and December 6,1876. And for the second time from February 17,1877 to May 5,1877. He resumed his duties on an interim basis from May 5,1877 to November 30,1880. Later, he held the presidency of the country in an uninterrupted manner between 1884 and 1911.

Before assuming the presidency, he was a prominent military man who shined for his participation in the Second French Intervention in Mexico. He fought in the Battle of Puebla, the Siege of Puebla, the Battle of Miahuatlan and the Battle of the Carbonera. They highlighted his military actions in the state of Oaxaca, where he organized guerrillas against the French. On April 2,1867, Díaz took Puebla and on June 15 of that year he recovered Mexico City for the republican troops. He took arms against the federal government twice: the first against Benito Juarez with Plan de la Noria, and, later, against Sebastián Lerdo de Tejada, drawing up the Tuxtepec Plan. After the triumph of the second plan, Díaz assumed the presidency. Convinced defender of progress, among the main achievements of his mandate is the expansion of the railroad in Mexico.
