Corrientes is a city in Argentina, capital and main social and economic center of the homonymous province. Founded on April 3,1588, it is the oldest city in the Northeast of Argentina. It is located on the banks of a bend of the Paraná River, 50 km downstream from the confluence with the Paraguay River, approximately 1150 km upstream from its mouth in the Río de la Plata.
