Chat in Nuevo Baztán

Nuevo Baztán is a Spanish municipality belonging to the Community of Madrid located in the Cuenca del Henares region, located 50 km east of Madrid. The historic center has its beginnings in the period from 1709 to 1713 as the residence of the workers of a glass factory founded "ex novo" by Juan de Goyeneche and Gastón from Villa de la Olmeda. The name of Nuevo Baztán comes from the Baztán valley, in Navarre, the birthplace of Juan de Goyeneche.

The urbanistic model of streets in orthogonal lattice defined at the beginning of the 18th century for this town has been the object of study by Spanish urbanists such as Fernando Chueca Goitia: "Example of the authentic Baroque urbanism." Goyeneche commissions the design of the buildings and their distribution Urban spatial design to the Spanish architect José Benito Churriguera The town occupies a place on the plateau, where before there was a forest of holly trees. The industries were working until the mid-eighteenth century, undergoing various transformations until they were finally closed, the old town remained in a state of neglect for several centuries. At the beginning of the 20th century various attempts were made to restore the old town, and it was declared a Historic-Artistic Monument in 1941. In 1965, on the initiative of an urbanization company, the expansion of the old town was promoted with the urbanization of Eurovillas Later, other urbanizations were built that made the population grow in its periphery. Since March 16,2000, the complex formed by the palace of Juan de Goyeneche and the church is considered of Cultural Interest.
