The municipality of Rafael Delgado is located in the state of Veracruz, is one of the 212 municipalities of the state and has its location in the central area of the state, is a municipality in the region of the great mountains. Its coordinates are 18°49 'north latitude, west longitude 97°04' and has a height of 1,160 meters above sea level. The municipality has a population of 17,473 inhabitants, made up of sixteen localities. The municipality of Rafael Delgado has a temperate-humid climate at a temperature of 18°C, with little rain in winter, more abundant in summer and at the beginning of autumn. In this municipality is celebrated on June 24, the party in honor of San Juan Bautista, patron of the town.
The municipality of Rafael Delgado is better known as San Juan del Río: the majority of buses from that town are mostly labeled San Juan del Río, and not Rafael Delgado.
