Zapotlanejo is a municipality historically of the High places of Jalisco and forms part of the Metropolitan Zone of Guadalajara. The municipality is currently administratively part of the Central Region of the state of Jalisco, Mexico. Its name means: place where zapotes abound According to the Population and Housing Count of 2010, the municipality has 63,636 inhabitants and its territorial extension is 643.02 km2. The population is mainly dedicated to the service sector, the municipality is known for its architecture, the extraction and sculpture of quarry, the sale and production of articles of clothing. It is also part of the macro region of Bajío Occidente or Centro Occidente de México.
