Puerto Peñasco
The Municipality of Puerto Peñasco is one of the 72 municipalities of the state of Sonora, with its municipal seat located in the homonymous city of Puerto Peñasco, which contains almost 99% of the municipality's population. On July 9,1952, by means of the law number 136, Puerto Peñasco, it was erected as the No.48 municipality of the State of Sonora, being administered by a municipal council. The majority of the municipality consists of empty stretches of the Great Desert of Altar.
