Oaxaca de Juárez
Oaxaca de Juárez is a Mexican city, a World Heritage Site according to UNESCO, capital of the state of Oaxaca, as well as the head of the homonymous municipality. Located in the Central Valleys, 550 km by road from Mexico City, it is the most extensive and populated town in the state and its economic and cultural center. It was founded by a detachment of Mexica warriors, sent by the eighth tlatoani, Emperor Ahuízotl, around 1486.In 1532, by royal decree, he received the title of "Very noble and loyal city" from King Carlos I of Spain, calling himself first Antequera, name that in 1821 was replaced by that of Oaxaca.
