Nazas is one of 39 municipalities in the state of Durango in northwestern Mexico. Its chief town is the city of Nazas. The municipality has an area of 2412.8 km2. In 2010, the municipality had a total population of 12411 inhabitants, and 12166 inhabitants in 2005. In 2010, the city of Nazas had a population of 3,622 inhabitants. The municipality of Nazas has 78 localities, the largest of which are: General Lázaro Cárdenas and Paso Nacional, classified as rural.
