Carmen
El Carmen is one of the municipalities in which the Mexican state of Campeche is divided, its municipal seat is Ciudad del Carmen. Its main populations are Ciudad del Carmen, Isla Aguada, Sabancuy, Dieciocho de Marzo, Aguacatal, Atasta and Nuevo Progreso. Ciudad del Carmen was discovered in 1518 and is located in the western part of Isla del Carmen, also known as Isla de Tris and Isla Rica, in the Laguna de Términos, which is the most important in the state.
