Carter County
Carter County is a county in the US state of Kentucky. In the 2000 census the county had a population of 26,889 inhabitants. It is part of the Huntington-Ashland metropolitan area. The county seat is Grayson. The county was formed on February 9,1838 from portions of Greenup and Lawrence counties. It was named in honor of William Grayson Carter, a Kentucky state senator.
