Province of Leoncio Prado
The province of Leoncio Prado is one of eleven that make up the department of Huánuco in Peru. It limits by the North with the department of San Martin. On the East with the department of Ucayali. To the South with the provinces of Puerto Inca, Pachitea and Huánuco. And to the West with the provinces of Marañón, Huacaybamba, Huamalíes and Dos de Mayo. The name of the province honors the Huanuco sailor Leoncio Prado, martyr of the battle of Huamachuco during the Pacific War. From the hierarchical point of view of the Catholic Church is part of the Diocese of Huánuco, suffragan of the Archdiocese of Huancayo.
