Dudley is a large population of the Western Midlands. Dudley is part of the conurbation of the Western Midlands, and is located south of Wolverhampton. It is the largest population in the area known as Black Country. Since 1974, the town of Dudley is the administrative center of the Dudley Metropolitan District. The original rural municipality has undergone less expansion since 1966. The Dudley Metropolitan District has opted for city status in 2011, a resolution that is expected to be taken in 2012. For many years, the village was part of a Worcestershire exclave completely surrounded by Staffordshire, which has determined the fact that, ecclesiastically, the population continues to be part of the Diocese of Worcester.
