Hertfordshire

Not to be confused with the English county of HerefordshireHertfordshire is one of the forty-seven counties of England, United Kingdom, with capital in Hertford. Located in the East region, it is bordered on the north by Bedfordshire and Cambridgeshire, on the east by Essex, on the south by Greater London and on the west by Buckinghamshire, it occupies 1643 km² and has a population of 1 078 400 inhabitants. Its capital is Hertford. The county's motto is "Trust and fear not." The green areas of southern Hertfordshire are part of the "green belt" of London. To the north of the "green belt" are the garden cities of Welwyn Garden City and Letchworth and the new towns of Hemel and Stevenage.

The highest point is 400 meters from the village of Hastoe near Tring. The height is 245 meters above sea level. Its economy was based on agricultural and dairy products until the last century. Flowers are grown and then marketed in other markets, especially in London, with light machinery industry and printing workshops.
