Alicante is a Spanish province. It is located in the southeast of the Iberian Peninsula, and is the southernmost and least extensive province of the Valencian Community. However, it is the fifth most populated province in the country, with 1,838,819 inhabitants in 2018, the fifth in population density and the most densely populated in the Valencian Community. Its capital is the city of Alicante and has 26 municipalities of more than 20,000 inhabitants, being the provinces with the highest degree of urbanization. It has 141 municipalities.
The province of Alicante limits to the west with the Region of Murcia and the province of Albacete, to the north with the province of Valencia, to the south with Murcia and to the east with the Mediterranean Sea.
