Southern

The Southern Province is one of the ten provinces of Zambia. Its capital is Livingstone. Share with Zimbabwe the main tourist attraction of the country, the Victoria Falls. The center of the province is occupied by more farms than any other part of the country, highlighting the cultivation of corn. Another important product in the region is cane sugar. The Zambezi River serves as the southern border. Lake Kariba, artificially formed by the Kariba dam, lies along the southeast edge. The eastern limit is formed by the Kariba gorge and the Zambezi gorge, and the northern Central Province.

To the northwest there is part of the famous natural reserve of the Kafue National Park, the largest in Zambia, and the lake formed by the Victoria Falls. To the southwest are the teak forests surrounding the city of Mulobezi, historically important thanks to its timber industry. The Province of Southern Zambia is the only notable source of fossil fuels in Zambia. The coal mines of the Zambezi Valley served as support for a railway.
