Carazo

Carazo is a department of Nicaragua. Its departmental head is Jinotepe. It is located in the central zone of the Pacific region, south of the capital Managua, near the chain of volcanoes in Nicaragua, but it is the only department in the region that does not have volcanic cones. It is one of the smallest departments in terms of territory of the country.

It is known for its beautiful beaches and religious festivities that occur almost all year round, the most important are the Patron Saint Festivities of San Sebastian, in Diriamba in January, the patron saint festivities of San Marcos patron of the city of the same name in the month of April and the festivities of Santiago Apóstol Patron of Jinotepe, patron festivities par excellence of the department. Approximately 177,000 inhabitants live in it. The names of the cities are better known than the department. Its climate is cool and is located on a plateau 700 m. N. M.
