The county of Laikipia is a county of Kenya. It is located in the Rift Valley, in equatorial latitude. The main localities are Nanyuki, Nyahururu and Rumuruti. The total population of the county is 399 227 inhabitants according to the 2009 census. The county's capital is disputed. The seat of the county institutions has been in Nanyuki for a long time, but it has been decided to move it to Rumuruti because of its more central location. This fact has been subject to judicial litigation among county politicians.
