Mutoko is a small village in eastern Mashonaland province, Zimbabwe. It was established as an administrative station in 1911. It lies 143 km from Harare. It is named after the local Mutoko chief. This village is capital of the Mutoko that is inhabited by the Buja people. The people of Buja would have settled in Mutoko de Mhingari in what is now Mozambique. The Buja people are known to have the best producers of tomatoes and mangoes in Zimbabwe. In addition to Mutoko is surrounded by villages that were handed over to farmers after the war, it is from these reinstallations that the country is fed. Nehoreka is also the name of a 10 piece Afro Fusion music band, formed in Gweru Zimbabwe by Percy Nhara, Solomon Jahwi and Innocent Madamombe. The band is now based in Harare. In 1937, near Mutemwa, was established one of the few leprosy treatment centers in the country where John Bradburne worked from 1969 until he was killed by guerrillas during the Bush War of Rhodesia.
