The old town of Guasave was elevated to the category of city by means of decree number 118 of the XLI Legislature of Sinaloa in August of 1954, being governor of the State Dr. Rigoberto Aguilar Pico, municipal president Jesus Castro García and deputy of the fifth district Fidencio Orozco.
