For the municipality see: Municipality of Paraíso. The city of Paraíso is the head of the homonymous municipality of Paraíso in the Mexican state of Tabasco. It is located within the Grijalva region and belongs to the sub-region of Chontalpa. It has a population of approximately 25,186 inhabitants and is located on the left bank of the Seco River. It is located at a distance of 78 km northwest of the city of Villahermosa capital of the state, with which it communicates through the state highway La Isla-Dos Bocas. It is located 20 km from the city of Comalcalco and 58 km from the city of Heroica Cárdenas both also in Tabasco.
Although for many years Paraiso was a small and quiet city, in recent times, it has experienced significant growth due mainly to the presence of intense activity in the oil industry in the area to be located in the vicinity of the oil and commercial port of Dos Bocas, which has led to an increase in the commercial rhythm and services, as well as the installation of hotels in the city, to supply the demand for room occupancy caused mainly by the oil industry.
