The municipality of Tecozautla is one of the eighty-four municipalities that make up the state of Hidalgo in Mexico. Whose municipal seat is the town of Tecozautla. The municipality is located to the west of the Hidalgo territory between the parallels 20°25 'and 20°40' north latitude. The meridians 99°26 'and 99°51' west longitude. With an altitude between 1500 and 2400 meters above sea level, this municipality has an area of 525.06 km2, and represents 2.52% of the state's surface, within the geographical region known as the Mezquital Valley. It borders to the north with the state of Querétaro and the municipality of Zimapán. To the east with the municipalities of Zimapán, Tasquillo and Alfajayucan. To the south with the municipality of Huichapan.
To the west with the municipality of Huichapan and the state of Querétaro.
