The municipality of Metztitlán is one of the eighty-four municipalities that make up the state of Hidalgo, Mexico. Whose municipal seat is the town of Metztitlán. The municipality is located at the center of Hidalgo's territory between the parallels 20°23 'and 20°45' north latitude. The meridians 98°39 'and 98°58' west longitude. With an altitude between 900 and 2700 meters above sea level, this municipality has an area of 796.91 km2, and represents 3.83% of the state's surface, within the geographical region known as Sierra Baja. It borders to the north with the municipalities of Eloxochitlán, Molango de Escamilla, Xochicoatlán and Zacualtipán de Ángeles. To the east with the municipalities of Zacualtipán de Ángeles, San Agustín Metzquititlán and Atotonilco el Grande.
To the south with the municipalities of Atotonilco el Grande, Actopan and Santiago de Anaya. To the west with the municipalities of Santiago de Anaya, Cardonal and Eloxochitlán.
