Loreto
The Municipality of Loreto, is located in the central part of the Mexican state of Baja California Sur. Its municipal head is the city of Loreto. It is located geographically within 26°33'11 "N and 25°12'15" north latitude and 111°46'22 'W and 110°55'15' west longitude, from the Greenwich meridian. The municipality has an area of 4,878 km², including the territory of five islands that belong to it, its coastline is 223 km. According to the count of the INEGI in 1995 there was a municipal population of 9,986 inhabitants and the head of 8,299. In the census of the year 2000, the municipality had a population of 11,812 inhabitants.
The count of 2005, reported 11,839 inhabitants, residing in the municipal seat near 87% of the population.
