Fayette County
Fayette County, founded in 1821, is one of 102 counties in the US state of Illinois. In the year 2000, the county had a population of 21,802 inhabitants and a population density of 12 people per km². The county seat is Vandalia, and the county is named after the Marquis de La Fayette.
