Brooks County
Brooks County is a county in the US state of Georgia. In the 2000 census the county had a population of 16,450 inhabitants. The county seat is Quitman. The county was formed on December 11,1858 from portions of Lowndes and Thomas counties. It was named in honor of Preston Brooks, a representative from South Carolina. The county is part of the Valdosta metropolitan area.
