Pamplemousses
Pamplemousses is one of the districts of Mauritius located in the north of the island, possessing the highest population density of this one. The name of the district comes from the French and means grapefruit. Its capital is the city of Triolet. It has a botanical garden, built in 1770 by Pierre Poivre, which houses different spices, ebony and sugar cane. It also has lotus species and more than 85 varieties of palms from Central America, Asia, Africa and other islands of the Indian Ocean.
