Yigo is the northernmost city of Guam and hosts the Andersen Air Force Base. The municipality of Yigo is the largest on the island. Yigo is historically one of the most fertile areas of Guam. During World War II, the city owned a Japanese concentration camp during the Japanese occupation of the island. It was also the site of the final battle for the island during the war. Yigo's South Pacific Memorial Park is dedicated to the large number of Japanese who fell dead in battle.
