Lara is one of the twenty-three states that, together with the Capital District and the Federal Dependencies, form the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela. Its capital is Barquisimeto. It is located in the Central-Western region of the country, bounded on the north by Falcón, on the east by Yaracuy, on the south by Portuguesa, on the southwest by Trujillo and on the west by Zulia. With 2 234 763 habs. In 2018 it is the fourth most populous state, after Zulia, Miranda and Carabobo, with 9 autonomous municipalities and 57 civil parishes. Its main cities are: Barquisimeto, Carora, El Tocuyo, Quíbor and Cabudare.
