State Miranda is one of the twenty-three states of Venezuela. Its capital is Los Teques. It is located in the center-north of the country, in the Capital region. Bordered north with Vargas, Capital District and Caribbean Sea, east with State Anzoátegui, south with Guárico and southwest with Aragua. With 3 222 734 inhabitants in 2015, it is the second most populated State with 7950 km², the ninth least extensive and with 336.5 inhab / km², the fourth most densely populated. It owes its name to the independence hero, Francisco de Miranda.
It has 21 municipalities, 55 civil parishes and a mayor, which governs only four of the municipalities of this state, which are those that belong to the Metropolitan District of Caracas, which are: Baruta, Chacao, El Hatillo and Sucre, sector what is usually called East of Caracas. Its main cities are Los Teques, Guarenas, Guatire, Charallave, Santa Teresa del Tuy, San Francisco de Yare, Caucagua Santa Lucia, Cúa, Higuerote and Río Chico.
