Grand Bassa
Grand Bassa is a county in the central west part of the West African nation of Liberia. It is one of 15 counties that comprise the first level of administrative division in the nation. Buchanan is the capital city of this county whose surface covers 7,936 square kilometers. Since the 2008 Census, it had a population of 224,839 people, making it the fifth most populous county in Liberia. The Grand Bassa Distinguished Superintendent is Julia Duncan Cassell. The county is bordered by Margibi to the northwest, Bong to the north, Nimba to the east, and Cess River to the south and east. The western part of Grand Bassa borders the Atlantic Ocean.
