Nimba is a county whose location is in the central part of the Republic of Liberia. It is part of the fifteen counties that comprise the first level of administrative division in the republic. Sanniquellie serves as the capital city of this county whose territory covers an area of 11,551 square kilometers, making it the largest county in the nation. Since the 2008 Census, it had a population of 462,026 people, making it the second most populous county in all of Liberia. Nimba is bordered by Bong and Grand Bassa to the west, River Cess to the southwest, and Grand Gedeh to the southeast.
The northern and northeastern parts of Nimba border the Republic of Guinea, while the northeast is along the border of Côte d'Ivoire. Created in 1964, the Distinguished Superintendent is Robert S. Kamei.
