The Province of Preah Wijía is a province of the Kingdom of Cambodia located in the north of the country. The words Preah Wijía in the Khmer language translate: Preah = The sacred, Wijía = Temple. The name of the Province is perhaps due to the large number of Prasats in the region of the archaeological complex of Angkor and especially Prasat Preah Wijía. The boundaries of Preah Wijía are: N Thailand and Laos, E Province of Stung Treng, S Province of Kompung Thom, O Province of Oddar Meanchey and Province of Siem Reap. The capital of is the City of Phnom Tbeng Mean Chey.
