The aymag of Bayan-Ölgiy is one of the 21 provinces of Mongolia. It is located in the westernmost part of Mongolia. The capital is Ölgiy. Ayam de Bayan-Ölgiy was created in 1940. It differs greatly from the rest of the country because unlike the rest of Mongolia, the majority of the population is ethnic Kazakh, so the language, religion and customs contrast with the of the other provinces. It has an area of 45,705 square kilometers. The highest mountain in Mongolia is the Hüyten Uul which is on the border with the People's Republic of China. The province has registered a significant increase in its tourism for several years.
