The Yangon region is an administrative division of Lower Burma. It is bordered by the Bago region to the north and east, the Gulf of Martaban to the south and the Ayeyarwady region to the west. It is located between latitudes 16 °20 'and 17 °50' North and longitudes 95 °45 'and 96 °46' East, in the southern plains of the center of the country. The archipelago of the Coco Islands is also part of it. Its surface is 10 170 km². The Yangon region is the most developed region of Burma and its main gateway to the world. It is home to the majority of the country's industries.
